Hollywood’s leading ladies were out on Wednesday morning, December 10th, 2014 to celebrate The Hollywood Reporter’s Women In Entertainment: Power 100 with a breakfast in Los Angeles, California. This year jewelry designer, Roberto Coin, sponsored the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award, which was received by acclaimed writer of television hits Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away wit Murder, Shonda Rhimes. The Sherry Lansing Leadership Award, which recognizes a woman in the entertainment industry who is a pioneer and leader in the industry, was presented to Shonda by Scandal’s Tony Goldwyn.
Rhimes’ speech was poignant yet powerful, touching on the historied illusion of ‘the glass ceiling’. Rather than giving thanks for breaking said ‘ceiling’, Rhimes express gratitude for all those women before her, who broke racial and sexual barrier in the entertainment industry. The speech was refreshing and most importantly, engaging — sounding like the all-too-familiar monologues from Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal that propelled her to fame.
Designed by Roberto Coin, the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award showcased a replica of a ruby that is symbolic to the Roberto Coin brand. Included in every piece of Roberto Coin jewelry is his signature ruby. The ruby symbolizes peace, prosperity and happiness and is a special wish from the designer.
In attendance of the even included Kate Walsh wearing the 18K Octopus bangle along with Perfect Diamond HoopsTM from Roberto Coin, as well as the newly Golden Globe nominated, Patricia Arquette, for Boyhood.
